COUNTY READINESS: Project 7
For Project 7 status refer to the Project 7 webpage.
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is a US federal statute aimed at increasing insurance coverage and reducing the cost of healthcare. It provides a means for individuals without healthcare coverage to apply for Medicaid or health insurance benefits through a web portal called a marketplace. The NC FAST initiative that focuses on ACA is called NC FAST Federally-Facilitated Marketplace (FFM) Interoperability. It has been designated as Project 7.
County readiness activities for the initial October 1 release began in the spring of 2013, with County Champion webinars on the ACA and Project 7 process changes as well as 10 Operational Readiness Workshops across the state in partnership with WSS. The workshops provided high-level information on Project 7 business processes, while helping counties prepare ideas for communicating changes to clients, leadership and community partners.
For NC FAST users, a Change Discussion Guide is posted in FAST Help, along with Project 7 fact sheets. Initial training materials for the October 1 release are posted in the NC FAST Learning Gateway and additional training for future functionality implementation will be added. County Champion conference calls and fact sheets with updates on Project 7 processes will continue as needed.
