Andy Ambulance

Andy Ambulance

The North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services has an exciting way to teach children about medical emergencies and how to prevent injuries. "Andy" is a fully automated robot shaped like an ambulance that moves, speaks, listens, blows its siren and can turn on its lights just like a real ambulance. Andy Ambulance offers a fun, non-threatening way to provide young children with important safety messages since he is their size and can communicate with them at eye level. Andy seems real to young children since he is operated using a wireless remote control that allows the operator to be hidden from the audience whenever possible or desired.

Andy can be used in classrooms, assemblies, mall exhibits, hospitals, fairs and festivals, open houses, and in other settings where a message on emergency medical services or safety may be needed and where young children will be present.

Andy is most effective with preschool-age children through 1st grade or ages 3 - 7. Reservations for Andy are made on a first-come, first-served basis when at least two OEMS staff members are available to operate Andy at an event. Andy may be used indoors or outdoors in dry weather on smooth, hard surfaces.
