Educational Resources

Classroom and Community Education

State public health dental hygienists provide oral health education programs that may include videos, interactive exhibits, and printed educational materials.  Instruction covers dental disease prevention, oral hygiene practices, dental injury prevention, appropriate diet, consumerism and professional dental care practices. Most programs are targeted towards elementary aged children to establish good oral hygiene habits. Programs for caregivers of adult vulnerable populations (such as the frail elderly or those with intellectual or developmental disabilities) are in development.

Educational Materials

These educational materials and links are for use in an educational or clinical setting. Parents who school their children at home can also use these resources. Brochures are available on various oral health topics, as well as links to other web resources.

The following oral health educational materials may be printed and reproduced for use in oral health education activities. These materials are offered as a courtesy to parents, teachers and professionals to use when working with their child, student or patient.  Please do not alter any of the materials. Use them as they appear in the original file.

The educational materials are formatted to print to the most convenient sizes depending on how they are used. Every effort was made to allow printing on most printers, and they are all effective in either color or black and white. Some items are unavoidably formatted in legal (8.5" x 14"), or tabloid (11" x 17") size. Alternate sizes are provided whenever possible.

All items are in PDF file format.
