ABD Change Notice 01-12, Non-Emergency Medicaid Transportation (NEMT), revised NEMT policy in order to provide more consistency and oversight of the transportation program. This Change Notice revises policy to provide clarification on the additional vendor reporting obligations required by federal law. It also aligns NEMT vendor background check requirements with those placed on Medicaid providers.
CMS and other federal agencies use the term beneficiary instead of recipient. To match their terminology, as policy changes, recipient and A/R will be changed to beneficiary and A/B.
