Certain determinations require transfer to A-AF/M-AF/M-RF and others require reapplication to A-AF/M-AF/M-RF. Use your policy manuals to determine if a transfer or a reapplication is required.

    Blank spaces indicate an aid program/category change is not applicable.

    III. IF THE AID PROGRAM/CATEGORY CHANGE IS NOT AN ALLOWABLE TRANSFER, FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS IN COMPLETING AN APPLICATION FORM, EIS 2010.

    III. IF THE AID PROGRAM/CATEGORY CHANGE IS AN ALLOWABLE TRANSFER, AND THE CASE IS TRANSFERRING TO A MEDICAID PROGRAM, TURN TO TRANSFERS TO MEDICAID PROGRAMS, EIS 3451.

Individual who becomes INCARCERATED OR PLACED IN An INSTITUTION FOR mENTAL DISEASE (IMD):

    A. Single Person Case that is Work First, Transitional Medicaid, NC Health Choice, Family Planning Waiver, Special Assistance, Refugee Assistance, or MQB

      1. Transfer the case to the appropriate Medicaid aid program/category (if eligible and it is an allowable transfer) and enter the suspension information. He/she can not remain active in the current aid program/category.

      2. If the individual is eligible in another aid program/category and it is not an allowable transfer, terminate the current case and reopen in the appropriate aid program/category in suspended status.
      3. If the individual is not eligible in another aid program/category, terminate the case. He/she can not remain active in the current aid program/category.

    B. Multi Person Case that is Work First, Transitional Medicaid, NC Health Choice, or Refugee Assistance

      Delete the individual who is incarcerated or in an IMD from the case and, if eligible, approve him/her in suspended status in an appropriate aid program/category. He/she can not remain active in the current aid program/category.
