The Aids and Appliances Unit is unable to advertise, compete with private vendors, or sell online. Social workers, nurses, rehabilitation professionals, and blind or visually impaired individuals are able to purchase small visual aids and special adaptive devices designed to make daily independent living tasks easier. Items available for sale include talking clocks, talking calculators, Braille watches, sewing aids, cooking aids, writing aids, games, and many other items. The Aids and Appliances Unit maintains a display stockroom on the campus of The Governor Morehead School where items may be examined and purchased. Aids and Appliances sell these items at cost plus shipping and state tax.
