Vision Group codes are used solely by the Register Clerk in the State Office in maintaining the Register of the Blind.
Columns are: Vision Group; and Degree of Vision in Better Eye with Best Correction
0 - Absolute blindness (no light perception)
1 - Light perception and light projection only
2 - Hand movements and count fingers (3 feet to 10 feet)
3 - Better than count fingers but less than 20/200 (10 feet to 20 feet)
4 - 20/200 (count fingers 20 feet)
5 - Better than 20/200 but field restricted to 20 degrees or less
6 - “Blind” - no visual acuity determined
7 - 20/100 but no worse than 20/200 or less than 30 degrees fields
8 - Visually Impaired (20/70 BUT not to 20/100)
9 - Visual acuity of 20/50 or worse in the better eye with correction and one or more of the following pathologies of the eye:
Cataracts, Diabetic Retinopathy, Glaucoma, Keratoconus, Macular Degeneration, Nystagmus, Optic Atrophy, Retinal Degeneration, Retinitis Pigmentosa
